7-on-7 football is quickly becoming college recruiter's favorite ways to evaluate skill players. The one-on-one matchups between defensive backs and wide receivers seems to magnify the footwork and hand skills, while quarterbacks are able to demonstrate their accuracy in a range of throws to different areas.
But, even in a version of the sport seemingly built for social distancing, the 2020 pandemic brought offseason 7-on-7 football to an abrupt end last March. And most teams around the country watched star players graduate or focus on other sports during the lockdown, leaving roster spots open and no showcase for new players to step in.
One team though, approached GMTM to help them connect with more athletes in a safe way by launching a Virtual Tryout they can participate in from home.
The Garfield Gators, a youth sports club located outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, have been hosting their 7-on-7 team tryouts on GMTM since early December, collecting new videos from players hoping to be selected for their 15-U travel team. The Gators' coaches are looking for Pittsburgh-area athletes from 8th, 9th, and 10th grades to submit and earn a spot on their team that attends national tournaments.
If you are an athlete interested in trying out fo the Garfield Gators 15-U team, visit their Virtual Tryout now. The tryout features 5 activities that you can record and upload videos for to show coaches your wide range of skills. This exclusive event costs $25 to access and upload video.
If you are a 7-on-7 coach interested in hosting your team's tryouts virtually, email sales@gmtm.com to create your own team profile and event.
