Following the success of their first Virtual Combine, USA Bobsled & Skeleton has launched a follow-up event called "Season 2", where athletes can gain exposure from Team USA coaches.
In this interactive Virtual Event, athletes from all over the United States will be able to make their first push towards becoming an Olympic athlete by recording their metrics and submitting videos for evaluation.
The USA Bobsled and Skeleton Digital Combine: Season 2 is free for all participants who have created a GMTM profile and features four unique activities athletes can submit to. There is no age requirement, so the pool of athletes hoping to be discovered can range from recent college graduates to older athletes looking for another shot in their athletic careers.
In their first edition of a Digital Combine on GMTM, which ran throughout the fall of 2020, USA Bobsled had over 100 athletes submit video, in hopes of being invited to an in-person tryout with the coaching staff. Of those 100 athletes, nine were selected to join Team USA athletes at a training camp at Lake Placid.
Following the training camp in December 2020, all nine athletes who were discovered in the Digital Combine were asked to join the team officially with a few hoping to make the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing, China.
With the debut of the USA Bobsled and Skeleton Digital Combine: Season 2 event, USABS coaches are hoping to find a new group of hidden talent from the submissions to GMTM.
