Ashton Salwan is an emerging force in freestyle aerial skiing, celebrated for his unwavering dedication and exceptional athleticism. He began his journey at the Mont Chalet Training Center in Chesterland, Ohio. At just 15, Ashton made the bold decision to relocate to Park City, Utah, to focus exclusively on freestyle aerials—a move that included enrolling in an online high school program, enabling him to graduate early and devote himself fully to the sport.
Since then, Ashton has competed on the World Cup circuit and trained internationally, honing his skills in Switzerland, Australia, and Finland under the expert guidance of esteemed head coaches — Enver Ablaev (UKR), Mich Roth (SUI), and Jeff Bean (CAN). Starting in 2025, Ashton began training exclusively under the private coaching of Matt Saunders (USA). Beyond competition, Ashton is also pursuing his education at the University of Utah. His relentless drive, discipline, and passion set him apart in freestyle skiing, cementing his status as a top contender and a rising leader in the sport’s future.

What a way to close out the winter season at the Europa Cup in Airolo! Wrapped up my last two comps with 3rd and 4th place finishes — going head-to-head with some of the best, including three Olympic athletes. Proud of all my progress and hungry for more. See you back here in August!
What a day! Made it past the qualifying round and into my first World Cup Finals at Shymbulak Ski Resort in Almaty, Kazakhstan! Finished with a PR jump and 11th place—an incredible way to wrap up my 2024/25 World Cup season.
Three podiums during the NorAm Cup series (2nd-3rd-2nd) — a testament to hard work, grit, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. But in the end, it wasn’t quite enough to take the overall title. That’s the game.
No time to dwell — eyes forward, mind locked in. Next stop: Almaty, Kazakhstan for the World Cup on March 2, 2025. Bigger stage, bigger goals!
Back in Quebec for the NorAM Competition this weekend and couldn't be more excited! This event brings together some of the best in the region, and the level of competition is nothing short of inspiring.
Wrapped up the first leg of the 2025 NorAM Cup with a 2nd place finish! Despite battling some tough winds, sent it on the triple jump and walked away with a new PR of 104!
Next stop: Quebec, Canada! Finally getting to compete there this year and aiming to finish the domestic season just as strong—or even better.
Thrilled to finish 13th at one of the biggest stops on the circuit! Due to extreme weather conditions, I had to scale back and compete on the double jump, but I made it count—stomped the landing and skied away safely. Proud of the performance and now onward to the next challenge!
Finished 18th at first World Cup of the 2024/25 season and landed first bFFF on snow — a personal best! Proud to compete alongside the world’s best freestyle aerials athletes!
Ashton (#53) claims his first podium victory in the men’s freestyle aerials synchro competition at Finland's Ruka Ski Resort, a landmark achievement as the event prepares for its highly anticipated World Cup debut in January 2025 in Quebec.
Freestyle aerials is a thrilling skiing discipline where athletes perform acrobatic jumps off specially designed ramps, executing flips and twists at high altitudes before landing on a steep, groomed hill. Competitors are judged on the difficulty of their tricks, execution, and landing.
The "triple jump," the largest and most challenging ramp in aerial skiing, launches athletes to heights of up to 50 feet, allowing for intricate, multi-flip, multi-twist combinations. Here, Ashton completes a back-Lay-Tuck-Full for the first time on snow—a huge accomplishment in the sport. This feat showcases his exceptional skill, strength, and dedication, especially at such an advanced level of competition.
Thrilled to kick off training at the stunning Ruka Ski Resort, making the most of these early winter conditions! As the only US athlete here, I’m embracing the challenge and soaking up every moment (even if the sun only sticks around for 5 hours a day).
The cold is biting, but the vibes are incredible, and the progress feels worth every frosty breath. Let’s go!
Halfway thru the August Gold Camp Training with the US Ski Team. Here's my newest skill off the triple kicker... Back Lay-Full-Full. The triple kicker, which is ~13.5 feet tall, launches us 45-50 feet in the air.
