Analysis
Collin Gill is a 6-0, 190-pound cornerback in the 2023 class. He didn’t get a chance to play this past fall, but I loved what I saw in the highlights he submitted to GMTM. College coaches are going to love both his size and the fact that he is a solid man-to-man cover guy. He shows a lot of patience at the line and doesn’t open up the gate for wide receivers. He also does a good job of getting his hands on the receivers when he’s in press coverage and doesn’t give them a free release. Has loose hips, has no problem turning and running with wide receivers. Good body control in his shuffle and backpedal. He doesn’t get lost trying to find the ball while running with wide receivers.
He has several timely pass breakups in his highlights. Does a good job with phasing up with long speed downfield. Not afraid to charge downhill and attack in run support. Would like to see how he does in zone defense. He does a good job of maintaining posture and balance through the jam. On tape, has good speed and lateral agility. Ball tracking for him comes naturally. I look forward to seeing how he fares in his upcoming season. Good start, the tools are certainly there for him to be a Division I prospect.
