Analysis
When you’re 5-5, 140-pounds, you have to be able to do a few things in order to make people overlook your lack of size. Mojado’s ability as a kick-returner and the way he’s used in his high school’s offense takes advantage of his speed and quickness. He’s not asked to run in-between the tackles, which is smart. He his strong for his size (squats 315), but he’s still not physically big enough to take the pounding in-between the tackles. So, his school uses him mostly on running plays that enables him to beat every defender to the outside for big yardage. His vision, wiggle, quickness, speed, and decisiveness as a returner makes him dangerous. He plays much faster than what his 4.8 forty-yard dash time would indicate. Mojado has good football speed. Quicker than fast, not a bad thing.
He still has time to grow. Still needs to get stronger in order to be able to run in between the tackles with consistency. One-cut and go type runner. Would like to see more of him in pass-catching situations in an actual game. Needs to stay lower when coming out of his breaks. Not exactly a wiggler but he can be elusive. Needs to run with a little lower pad level. Tough and competitive. Doesn’t slow down to cut. Can work on getting more initial burst coming off the ball.
All in all, his ability to make things happen as a kick-returner and as a change-of-pace back will enable him to get that initial look. Lack of ideal size may hurt him in recruiting but he still has some time to go.
