Analysis
Cah’il Ward is a 5-11, 175 pound safety out of Texas. Class of 2024 prospect. Displays good field awareness at safety. Disciplined in coverage, stays deeper than the deepest. Great job of helping up top and in some cases, hitting and dislodging the football from receivers to cause incompletions. Above-average open-field tackler. Will need to get a little bigger, stronger, and more physical , but he’s a young player and has time to do all three things. Better-than-average ball-tracking and poise when the football goes up. Takes smart angles into alley to clean up any spillage. Doesn’t get lost in coverage. Pursuit leverage and angles to the football are strong suits of his. Needs to work on his burst to drive on throws and make plays on the ball. Cpvers with solid anticipation. Able to jar throws free. Would need to see more film of him matched up man-to-man in coverage to truly judge his coverage skills. Can he cover big slots and tight ends? Below average safety frame. Needs to work on improving explosion.
All that being said, he’s a true freshman with plenty of time to improve in all areas.
