Skeleton Update!
This concludes my third week of sliding experience! At the beginning of November, I attended a two-week development camp in Whistler with Snipers Skeleton Club. After its completion, my coaches told me they were really happy with my progress, and I was offered the insane privilege to forerun at the Whistler NAC. Of course I accepted!
Here is the live footage from one of my runs. Certainly not the cleanest run, but I'm very happy with how it went! I was encouraged to take safe lines (particularly in corners 4 and 6) for the sake of avoiding dumping my sled and slowing down the race. Fair enough! Happy to say there was no dumping that occurred on my end haha.
In regard to times, this run was a 58.41s, which was a PB for me! I also managed a 5.11s push time, which is not impressive (haha), but also not too shabby considering I only took six or seven steps. I took so few steps mainly for the sake of maintaining a relatively safe run, as I wasn't fully confident that I could keep it safe while sprinting full-speed at my current level of experience. That said, I'm really looking forward to coming back to Whistler to train and build the confidence to go all-out on my sprint!
This was an incredible experience for me, and I'm going home pumped to keep training! I have a ton to learn, but in the meantime, I'll keep coming back stronger and faster!
Cheers!
