At Villanova University, Shaud excelled in both football and track and field. As a walk-on for both teams, he displayed a strong work ethic and passion for competition. Shaud earned a starting position as a Wide Receiver in his senior year of football and achieved a remarkable feat by placing in the Big East Championships in Javelin during his junior year of track and field.
After graduating from the University of Virginia with a Master’s degree in Data Science, he was introduced to bobsled/skeleton by a hometown friend, and he was captivated by its thrill and challenge. Embracing the sport with unwavering determination, Shaud saw an opportunity to rekindle the competitive team dynamic that had driven him before.
Pursuing skeleton was not merely a personal endeavor; it was a chance to contribute more to the world of athletics. “I feel like I still have more to offer athletically and just having the opportunity to pursue representing my country in a sport is something I feel very grateful to have the chance to do,” Shaud said, when asked about his new athletic ambitions.
