In 2023, U.S. Ski & Snowboard hosted their first-ever Virtual World Flip League on GMTM and launched the Project Gold interest form, in order to attract new athletes to the sport of aerials. Through the Virtual World Flip League and Project Gold interest form, new athletes like Beaudin Napolitano and Kyra Dossa were able to participate in virtual events where they impressed Team USA coaches. Both Kyra and Beaudin are part of City Ski & Snowboard of Utah and compete in aerial events, a specific division of freeski.
From GMTM to Deer Valley World Cup
Recently, Beaudin and Kyra showcased their passion and aerial skills at the Deer Valley World Cup. At the base of White Owl and Champion Ski Run in Deer Valley, and with heavy snowfall making the event more challenging than usual, they both shined in competition. The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) Freestyle World Cup, took place early in February of 2024.
Beaudin Napolitano is only 17 years old and garnered the attention of Olympic coaches by submitting his statistics and footage to the 2023 Virtual World Flip League, which ran for four weeks. Beaudin entered through GMTM, whose platform gave him access to this event. He is excited to continue developing his skills and growing within the sport while providing inspiration to future Olympic hopefuls.
Kyra Dossa, currently a 20 year old athlete, also caught the eye of Olympic coaches through the GMTM platform. She completed the Aerial Project Gold Interest Form last year, which gave athletes, like Kyra, a new way to get recognized by Team USA coaches. Kyra, and other top junior skiers, were able to create profiles on GMTM and submit video footage and statistics directly to Olympic coaches.
The Search for Talent Continues
U.S. Ski & Snowboard, continues to encourage athletes from all backgrounds to participate in their virtual offerings, including their new Showcase on GMTM. Kyra and Beaudin were able to compete in the World Cup events in the USA and Canada as a result of the recognition they gained through Team USA Olympic coaches on the GMTM platform. Continue to follow their athletic journeys on GMTM.
