Which High Schools In America Produce The Most Female College Athletes?

It may come as no surprise to hear parents want what is best for their children. If parents have the money, private schools are typically regarded as one of the best options to prepare their students for life after high school.

In today’s day and age, athletics has also become a major facet of high school, and can be the reason a child gets admitted into a college of their choice. Due to the rise of athletics, private schools have recently placed a higher emphasis on building up their program’s reputation.

Throughout this article, one can find the top twenty private schools for women’s athletics. These private schools are known for sending their girls to compete at the collegiate level at a very high level.

Mater Dei High School

Mater Dei High School is ranked number one on many different lists for their athletics. Located in sunny Santa Ana, California, it is known for their beautiful scenery, top academics, and ranked number one for sports. They offer 25 different sports, with basketball, soccer, tennis, and volleyball being their most popular and dominant. Admission will come with a yearly tuition of $18,850 per year, where 55-percent of students receive financial aid.


St. Thomas Aquinas High School

Located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, St. Thomas Aquinas is ranked number 1 for private schools athletics within the state of Florida. The Lady Raiders recently won the 6A state title with many athletes college bound, and their swim team won the Regional Championship as well. They also offer many up and coming sports like lacrosse and flag football.


La Salle Academy

La Salle is located in Providence, Rhode Island where they dominate the surrounding schools in women’s athletics. There is such an emphasis on sports that a recent poll stated 100% of students and parents agree that lots of students participate in sports. La Salle is known for sending female athletes to Division I for multiple sports, particularly field hockey, volleyball, and tennis.


Boston College High School

Boston College High School is located in the beautiful city of Boston, Massachusetts. With tuition at an astounding $24,235 per year, it is unsurprising to see 98% of the students go on to attend a 4-year college. Of those 98% of students, many of the female athletes will go on to the collegiate level for sports in addition to academics.


Cathedral Catholic High School

Cathedral Catholic is located in San Diego, California, and is the number 2 in California for athletics. While dominating in many female sports, they also offer a whopping 40 sports for the girls to choose from!


Cardinal Gibbons High School

Cardinal Gibbons is a private catholic school located in Raleigh, North Carolina. It is ranked the number 1 high school for athletes in North Carolina, and number 1 for Catholic high schools in North Carolina. If you live in the Raleigh area and you are interested in providing the best opportunities for your daughter in sports, Cardinal Gibbons is your best bet.


Sacred Heart Academy

This private school is the first all girls high school on this list. Located in Louisville, Kentucky, Sacred Heart is ranked as the highest all girls high schools in Kentucky.


Salpointe Catholic High School

Salpointe Catholic High School is located in Tucson Arizona, and is ranked at the top of list for best high schools for athletes in Arizona. Salpointe is known for dominating sports with 70 state titles, and countless athletes going on to the collegiate level.


Xavier College Preparatory Roman Catholic High School

Just the second all girls private school on this list, Xavier College is located in Phoenix, Arizona. As an all girls school, Xavier College Preparatory is ranked number 2 for high school athletics residing in Arizona.


St. Joseph High School

St. Joseph is located in Trumbull, Connecticut, and is ranked the number 2 best high school for athletics located in Connecticut. St. Joseph offers 23 different sports for the girls to choose from.


Bishop Carroll Catholic High School

Bishop Carroll is ranked the number 11 best catholic high schools in Kansas. It is located in Wichita, and while their academics are rated a B+ on niche.com, their athletics are rated an A+. They are ranked as the number 2 best high schools for athletes in the state of Kansas.


Red Bank Catholic High School

Red Bank Catholic High School is located in Red Bank, New Jersey. Red Bank is ranked number 3 for the best high schools for athletics in New Jersey, ranked behind two all boys private schools so they were excluded from this list.


Mount Carmel Academy

Mount Carmel Academy is located in New Orleans, Louisiana. It is another all girls high school, where their athletics are ranked number one for athletes in Louisiana.


Jesuit High School

Jesuit High School is located in Portland, Oregon and is the top rated high school for athletics in Oregon. On the academic side of things, they are. Ranked as the number 3 best college prep private high schools in Oregon.


St. Johnsbury Academy

St. Johnsbury Academy is a boarding school located in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. Thanks to their commitment to athletics, St. Johnsbury is ranked as the number one best high school for athletics in Vermont. This should be almost expected given the large price tag for yearly tuition of $34,700 per year for just the tuition, and an additional $29,800 for the boarding.


Valor Christian High School

Valor Christian High School is located in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. It is ranked the number 1 high school for athletes in Colorado and has recently sent many female athletes to compete at the collegiate level.


Blessed Trinity Catholic High School

This private school is located in Roswell, Georgia and is ranked the number 2 high school for athletes in Georgia.


Punahou School

The only school on this list located in Honolulu, Hawaii, it is ranked as the number one high school for athletes to attend in Hawaii. It is also ranked very high for academics and STEM in Hawaii at number 2.


Bishop England High School

Despite the name “England” in its title, Bishop England is located in Charleston, South Carolina. It is ranked as the best high school for athletes in South Carolina, and number 8 for college prep private high schools in South Carolina.


Charlotte Catholic High School

The final school to crack this list is Charlotte Catholic High School, located in Charlotte, North Carolina. It makes the list as it is ranked number 2 for athletics in North Carolina, but takes a dip academically as it is ranked just 46 for college prep.
