What's going on GMTM Family ! I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas in which they got some time to relax, recharge and get ready for the new year. I believe this will be the best one yet because when we make it through it will be a renewing of the mind, body and spirit propelling us into greatness in 2025. I'm coming to you guys today to give you some nourishment for your mind on how you can separate yourself from your peers and other athletes around the world. Some like to call it the "competitive edge" or " Dawg Mentality" but for me I've coined the phrase the "Will to Win". I believe one of the greatest examples of having the "Will to Win" is Tom Brady. We all know the story drafted in the 6th round, ran one of the worse 40s in NFL history, was the 4th quarterback on the Patriots roster when they drafted him in the year 2000. What people don't usually talk about though is Brady's Will to win in every aspect of his game that really transformed his game and mentality.
When Brady was at Michigan he had to sit for 2 years before he would become the starter as a junior in which he performed well. But that didn't guarantee Brady the starting spot his senior year when his coach told him you will be competing to be the starter even after proving he was a viable starter. Brady could have gone in the dumps, pouted, cried, complained that all the work he done thus far wasn't seen and that he was bigger than competition. He didn't though, because Tom had developed a "Will to Win" in all aspects of his athletic playing career. He embraced challenges like this because he never viewed the game as owing him something. Even though he was probably justified in doing the negative thing in this situation, he took another approach the same one he had since he had been at the University of Michigan. I'm going to treat every moment like it's gameday whether it be in the film room, weight room, practice, and studying. He said he would give his best in every aspect so that he was prepared to lead his team to victory.
Come on guys this is Tom Brady I'm talking about ! Considered by most the Greatest Quarterback of all time and one of the greatest winners in sports history. He never felt entitled on his journey that things should be given to him based off past accomplishments or because of seniority. What Tom did was simple in his approach nothing is given everything is earned and if someone is better than me it won't be because of lack of preparation or timidness when it's time to perform. His "will to win" in all aspects of his sport is the key ingredient to why he became who he became. He liked winning but hated being on the opposite end of the stick so he was willing to do things those around him wouldn't do. Brady had a spirit of willingness to fight for what he envisioned himself to be and wasn't going to let the outside noise stop him from putting in the work.
So if you learn anything from Tom Brady whether you like him or not, you have to respect that nothing was given to him in any aspect. His "Will to Win" his willingness to prepare, compete and not get into his feelings about what was happening around him lead him to who he his today. So my one question for you today is do you have the "Will to Win" despite circumstances that you have no control over? Do you have the desire to push yourself pass those who surround you to stand out or do you just want to be a number who complains about what the situation may be? The answer to these questions is inside of you and it's up to you to make the choice of who you want to be! In the end you wouldn't want it any other way.
